Hi! How is SleepWear-5.28-release different from SleepWear-5.28-passive? I still couldn’t find an explanation. Just one word, but what is it? Please explain the difference between these Application versions. Thank you in advance.
Hi @ruslanvolodin, the passive version for Wear OS is an experimental version to test the consequences of the new API level on the battery consumption. Did you notice a difference between the battery consumption of these two versions?
I didn’t pay much attention, but I started charging my watch earlier than usual. And now Sleep is at the top of the list in terms of battery consumption. It’s still difficult for me to draw clear conclusions, but I still need to observe.
The new API level changed the way the app can read the data from the sensors. This passive version halts all changes, except the API level (which is required, we need to upgrade the API level everytime Google says so).
This passive version was our way of evaluating, how much this new API impacted the battery level, and how much could it be the changes on our side.
Thanks for the clarification… According to my observations, the impact on the battery is negligible. Increased somewhere in the range of 3-5%% for a night’s sleep. Which is quite acceptable to me, since I still put my watch on charge every morning before going to work. I’m sure everyone does that.
