Switch Google account for payment when unlocking

I’ve had to stop using digital detox because the emergency quit no longer works – it asks me to pay using a Google account that has no payment methods.

I have multiple Google accounts on my phone (and no, removing them isn’t an option).

My main account is a regular Google account, and this is the account that has my payment methods on it. However, for some reason the Digital Detox app all of a sudden seems to think that my university account (which has all forms of payment blocked by the admins) is the primary, and so if I have to quit, the app asks me to pay using an account that has no payment methods, and that means I can’t quit. As far as I can tell there is no way to switch which Google account the app considers to be the primary one, even outside of a detox when the settings aren’t blocked.

Is there any way for this issue to be fixed?

It’s put me in a couple of bad situations where I’ve been away from home for an event and forgot to turn off the detox, and then been unable to access my phone when I needed it – as a result I’ve had to stop using the app and my phone use has been much worse again.

Hi @adhill, the Play Store decides which is the “primary” account on the phone (typically the first account added on the device when setting it up).

The app only launches the Play Store payment dialogue, which will open in the primary account. The app does not control which account will show up.

Consider using the Mentor feature; the quit code will end the detox when needed without the payment involved.
