My request is to have a button in the notification panel, ’ Pause until turned back on’.
I set sleep app to track movement with sonar, but in the middle of the night I want to watch a YouTube video. What usually happens is I access the notification panel and press pause, so the sound is not at maximum volume. This is much quicker than stopping and starting.
Then while watching the video, after a while it will suddenly go to maximum volume as tracking restarts and give me a jump scare every time.
This was my feature request. It regularly catches me out with sudden max volume sound when listening to music when can’t sleep. I just want an option to pause tracking from the notification bar until I start it again without going into the app.
I understand it might not work for some people who fall asleep while listening to music but I never do that.
Or could the sonar volume gradually increase instead of instant full volume?
Until this issue is fixed I won’t be using sleep tracking anymore.
Hi @James1, this feature request is still in the waiting list.
There are several options on how to prevent the volume side-effect during sleep tracking:
Use a wearable, or accelerometer. Only sonar must use sound stream to work.
Set an automatic tracking delay, and resume from the notification if needed without the need of going into the app again.
There is sadly only one sound stream available on Android, so we cannot use a different sound stream. We can try testing gradual increase of the volume for sonar.
(updated review on PS is counted as a new rating, so communicating with developers on Play Store via multiple updates of the bad rating review has a great impact)
Thanks for the response. I found a possible workaround. Set the sonar volume a bit lower in settings. Seems to still track my sleep the same and no more sudden loud sound.
Option 2 sounds good, if it would automatically detect when the phone is being used and pause tracking.
(Maybe an improvement could be made to the notification bar with longer pause available, but not essential if option 2 works well)
If there’s a gradual volume increase it might be good but prefer it doesn’t override the manual sonar volume setting.
Sorry, didn’t realise editing counted as multiple reviews in play store. Now I’ve got the workaround have deleted the edits and posted a new review.
Other than the issue it’s a great app that’s worked flawlessly for years.
