Long Story Short:
I’ve been trying the lucid dreaming feature lately, and would love to see a few features implemented to use with the WILD technique.
-
Lucid Dream Alarm that only goes off once per night - I’d like the ability to only have the lucid dream alarm go off once over the course of the night.
-
Vibrate Option that vibrates more times per alarm - I’ve tried a silent alarm with vibrate only for Lucid Dream. Vibrate is what I prefer to use for any alarm, but with LD, it seems it has a constant number of vibrates, unaffected by how many times the audio alarm would repeat.
-
An optional/creatable shortcut for lucid dreaming toggle - depending on whether I want to bother trying lucid dreaming that night. Something that would make the feature quicker to get to if desired instead of Settings>Sleep Tracking>Lucid Dreaming>Enable/disable.
(I’ve placed this at the bottom because it seems like it would be the most involved in the way of making new parts of the UI that can talk to each other. And, admittedly, not everyone wants to even use the LD feature.)
To explain why:
If I understand correctly, the LD feature plays a noise when the user enters REM sleep. This seems to be for the purpose of helping the user know they are dreaming. Unfortunately, I’m a light sleeper so I either don’t hear the noise at all, or it wakes me up. But with a slight tweak, this could be advantageous.
I’ve been trying the “Wake Back to Bed” method for lucid dreaming lately. That’s when you wake up during REM sleep after sleeping 3-6 hours. Then after staying awake only a few minutes, you go back to bed. It’s much easier from here to enter REM sleep.
The key here is to wake up really tired right out of a dream so it’s really easy to get back to sleep. As you fall back asleep you should be able to consciously enter a lucid dream. I’ve done this a few times by sheer luck, but it would likely be much easier with a feature like this, because the app tracks sleep cycles.
If there are any questions about what I have in mind, I’ve dabbled in Android development and may be able to clarify.
