When an encrypted phone reboots, notifications and alarms don’t go off until the phone is unlocked. With Android 7, Direct Boot was released to allow apps to partially function before the phone is unlocked so that alarm apps will still function (https://developer.android.com/training/articles/direct-boot.html). This would ease my fear of my phone randomly restarting in the middle of the night and Sleep not being able to go off.

Any update on when we might see this implemented?

Glad to hear this is planned as I awoke this morning to find my SaA alarm never went off since my phone died in the middle of the night and when I plugged it in I never unlocked it :[
