Reopening the entry because of the already implemented support for BT heart rate devices. (Jiri, UrbandroidTeam)
Hi, the idea is to use ANT+ sensor available in most devices and use it to measure BPM using a HRM.
This can be very useful to include a lot of variables in the app.
Thanks.

I understand that it seems like BLE is easier to implement in many apps for developers, but I think more people actually already own ANT+ heart-rate sensors, which have been sold by Garmin for ten years now (Forerunner 305/Edge 305). Sleep as Android requires ANT+ support ASAP!

Addendum: not to mention with ANT+ support, one can use the Tempe sensor for temperature monitor. If breathing rate(sonar), motion, HR & temperature can be recorded so easily & cheaply, nothing currently available will come close to SaA for sleep tracking in terms of cost/value.

With Newer Garmin watches like mine(Fenix 5x) have "Broadcast Heart Rate" feature from the always on wrist HR sensor, it'll make this feature more useful.
Haven't tested out the sonar yet. If it works well, i can see the ANT+ support for HR from the watch combines with sonar as a very effective "contactless" sleep tracking solution.

Ant+ is lower and a super alternative for a low power heart rate sensor. Ant is present on tons of android phones. We should have this support.

How is this still not supported?

Petre, if you need a phone with ant+ support or an ant+ hrm for development, i can lend you both.

Would really be awesome, there are many people with spare ANT+ hardware around.
ANT+ support is very appreciated! I wish I could help you guys with it.
