I’ve been trying incredibly unsuccessfully to get Google Assistant, IFTTT, Sleep as Android, Android TV, and the CBS News app to play nice. Just getting my TV to turn on is kind of working (I have multiple smart TVs, so it’s a little wonky), but AFAICT, there is no simple way to just say “when I wake up, open app X” IFTTT doesn’t do it, Google Assistant keeps trying to search for CBS News instead of opening the news!
Maybe I should be looking to a different angle, but with all of the integrations that SAA has already, this kind of makes more sense to me. Hell, I’d be happy with being able to tell it to open an app on my phone and then cast that to the TV.
